๐ Make It Go BOOM (or Whisper)
The metronome in OnSong can play audio to keep you from sounding like a total amateur when you're tryna nail that click track. The audio settings section in metronome settings lets you tweak how this lil' robot beats sounds. It's got the following bangers:
๐ฅ Soundscapes of Clickitude
OnSong supports way too many metronome sounds, including:
- Wood Block is literally a wood block havin' a bad day โ the downbeat gets all high & mighty. Default (because we said so).
- Beep is a computer havin' an existential crisis. Use it to drown out literally everything else you're playin'.
- Claves is that clicky-clacky vibe with the downbeat flexin' in a higher register.
- Light Tap is basically a ghost tappin' you on the shoulder, except the downbeat actually shows up.
- Shaker is an egg shaker havin' the time of its life (very quietly, tho).
- Bass Drum with Snare plays the bass drum on literally every beat & saves the snare drama for the downbeat.
- Bass Drum with Crash is that one friend who brings the cymbals to every party. Bass drum everywhere, crash on the downbeat.
- Hi Hat and Snare is your drummer in a nutshell โ hi hat goin' crazy on the beats, snare gettin' all dramatic on the downbeat.
- Hi Hat Open/Close plays that tssss-ka hi hat action for the beats. You know the one.
๐ Pan
Slide this bad boy left & right if you wanna pretend the metronome is havin' an identity crisis. (Pro tip: iOS has a glitch where it won't fully drown out one channel. We're as mad about it as you are.)
๐ Volume
Turn it up, turn it down, or live dangerously somewhere in the middle. This one's all you, fam โ totally independent from OnSong's main volume so you can be extra.
โ๏ธ Behavior Shenanigans
This is where the metronome gets its personality. Tweak these bad boys:
- Play Down Beat โ flip this on & the downbeat gets its own special sound treatment. Flip it off & it's all the same boring beat. Default is on (we're generous like that).
- Play Down Beat Only โ turn this on & you only hear beat 1. Beats 2, 3 & 4? Poof. Gone. RIP.
๐ฏ BPM Settings
These are basically the guardrails so you don't tempo yourself into the stratosphere.
- Default BPM is your fallback tempo when you're too lazy to set one. We picked 96 BPM because it felt right.
- Minimum BPM is the slowest tempo you can actually use without fallin' asleep. Bottom line: 40 BPM.
- Maximum BPM is the fastest our lil' metronome can handle before it has a meltdown. Ceiling: 200 BPM (typo in the original but we're leavin' it).
