You Do Stuff
You can set OnSong to do wild & crazy things when stuff happens—like you tap the screen or stomp on a foot pedal. Behold, the ridiculously long list of options you can torture yourself trying to remember:
- Nope does absolutely nothing. (Why is this even here? Because reasons.)
- Capo Up cranks the capo up one fret. Your fingers thank you.
- Capo Down yanks the capo down one fret. Your ego, less so.
- Scroll Up scrolls the song up like a normal human. Hit it when you're at the tippy-top of a song with a foot pedal? Boom—previous song. Magic.
- Scroll Down scrolls the song down. Hit it at the bottom with a foot pedal? Congrats, you're now on the next song. You're welcome.
- Next Song takes you to the next tune. Revolutionary.
- Previous Song takes you back to the song you just ditched. No judgment.
- Random Song yeets a random song from your book or set at your face. Great for practicing when you wanna feel confused.
- Reset Song scrolls back to the top & optionally nukes autoscroll, backing tracks, the metronome, & section assignments. Customize this hot mess in Utilities Menu » Navigation Settings » Actions » Reset Song.
- Next Slide yeetus to the next slide when you're projecting lyrics. Living the dream.
- Previous Slide goes back a slide. For when you overshoot. Again.
- Show/Hide Menubar toggles the menubar so you can pretend you have a full screen. You don't, but it's nice to imagine.
- Show Quick Pick pops up Quick Pick so you can speed-search songs like you're in a race against time.
- Show Songs List brings up the song menu. Using MIDI or other non-keyboard weirdness? This also hides the songs menu. Plot twist.
- Scroll Faster shaves 30 seconds off the song duration, making autoscroll zoom like it's late for class.
- Scroll Slower adds 30 seconds, making autoscroll move like your grandma on a Sunday drive.
- Toggle Audio play, pause, or stop the backing track. Control freak much?
- Toggle Autoscroll turns autoscroll on or off. Revolutionary button technology.
- Toggle Capo flips the capo on & off. Very on-brand.
- Toggle Low Light Mode dims the lights to black & white. For when you wanna look mysterious or just protect your retinas.
- Toggle Metronome click-clack on & off. Torture yourself in style.
- Toggle MIDI Start/Stop sends the MIDI start or stop command. gestures vaguely at MIDI.
- Mute Metronome silences the click but keeps the beat going (& optionally blinks the menubar). Perfect for testing if you actually have rhythm or if the metronome was doing all the heavy lifting.
- Tap For Tempo lets you tap out the tempo. Don't use this with laggy foot pedals like the AirTurn BT-105—they're already designed to forgive your clumsy feet.
- Tempo Up speeds things up by 1 BPM. One. Whole. Beat.
- Tempo Down slows things down by 1 BPM. Snooze city.
- Transpose Up shifts the song up a half step (with all the fancy enharmonic jazz included).
- Transpose Down shifts the song down a half step. Same fancy jazz, lower notes.
- Volume Up cranks the device volume by 5%. Hearing damage in slow motion.
- Volume Down quiets things by 5%. Blessed silence, one increment at a time.
- Blackout Lyrics nukes the lyrics from projection—no words, no background. Total blackout mode.
- Clear Lyrics hides or shows lyrics during projection but keeps your background image or video vibin'.
- Continue Scene keeps a scene rolling if you hit a step with infinite duration. For the advanced peeps who like living dangerously.
- Play Scene restarts whatever scene you loaded. Awkward pause? Rewind!
- Stop Scene kills the currently playing scene. RIP scene.
- Toggle Scene Playback toggles the scene on & off. Riveting stuff.
- Playback Pitch plays the pitch for a cappella groups. Config this in metadata.
- Shift Up shifts to the next gear in your configured gears. Vroom vroom.
- Shift Down shifts to the previous gear. Going backward has never been so intentional.
- Unshift resets to gear #1. Return to sender.
